NWCCOG's Region

Northwest Colorado Council of Governments (NWCCOG) is the region designated by the State of Colorado as State Planning and Management Region 12, and includes the counties of Eagle, Grand, Jackson, Pitkin and Summit. Region 12 is located in North Central Colorado just west of the Front Range. It is in the heart of the Rocky Mountains and is characterized by its mountainous terrain and very high overall altitude.
The most recent population estimate from the State Demography Office for the region is 117,512 (July 2009 estimate, State Demography Office). The region consists of 6,779 square miles, for an overall population density of 17.33 persons per square mile.
NWCCOG's region consists of one county whose economic driver is agriculture (Jackson) and four counties that are largely considered "resort" counties whose economic driver is recreation-based tourism and construction (Eagle, Grand, Pitkin and Summit).
