Demographics of the Region

A selection of up-to-date Census data for each NWCCOG member jurisdiction is available here by clicking on a county or town on this map of the region above. Both Eagle County and Summit Counties have populations large enough (over 25,000) such that 3-year ACS estimates (2008-10) are available. For the rest of NWCCOG's jurisdictions, ACS 5-year estimates (2006-10) are available.

What is the difference between Census 2010 data, and ACS data? ACS data represents the average characteristics of each county/town for the 5-year time span (or 3-year time span in the case of Eagle and Summit Counties). ACS data is best used for analyzing small populations, as this data is available for all geographies no matter how small, down to the block group. It is useful for comparisons of characteristics across geographies. Total counts from ACS data will be different from Census 2010 data because ACS is a time span estimate, while Census 2010 is a point in time count.
